Maria Montessori did not develop her own concept for learning other languages. But her principles can and should guide us here too. It makes sense to build on Montessori principles when teaching foreign languages in order to enable sustainable and enjoyable learning.
MoreThe approach of autonomous language learning focuses on the learners and their learning. They can use all of their skills to deal with language actively and authentically, and in doing so expand their abilities. To do this, they need a clear framework in which they feel safe and accepted, as well as a methodological repertoire that they can use independently. Collaboration in the group is just as important as the support of the teacher, which enables learning to take place. These processes are continuously documented and evaluated by everyone involved, so that learning is visible and understandable for everyone.
MoreMultilingualism is not just a goal for children and young people growing up monolingually, but a reality for many of them. Today's knowledge tells us that we should actively use the linguistic resources that families bring with them from other countries and cultures in schools and society.
The language workshop creates a space in schools or communities where children can discover languages, contribute their own language experiences and make new discoveries. The goal is a multilingual mindset - to awaken and maintain an openness and curiosity for language and languages of all kinds.
The topic of English verb forms and tenses is considered by everyone to be one of the greatest challenges in dealing with this language. I have created an overview that relates all tenses and forms to one another. To do this, understandable contexts are created using pictures and stories. These make the use of the respective verb form understandable and easy to remember. The English tense model provides an overview of all tenses and forms; teachers and students can always refer back to this framework.
